Eagles swingman a hot property in attack

West Coast spearhead Josh Kennedy is keen for Oscar Allen to stay in attack, saying the swingman’s presence there has helped create a match-winning mismatch.

Allen showcased his forward-line talents with a stunning five-goal haul in last week’s 27-point win over Collingwood.

It took his season tally to 14 goals, despite also spending significant time in defence and in the ruck.

Allen has been used as an important back-up ruckman in recent seasons, but his growing stature in attack is proving hard to ignore.

Eagles coach Adam Simpson conceded after the win over Collingwood he was facing a challenge trying to justify moving Allen from the forward line.
